Horace Long has been a professional photographer for the past 10 years.
He has a BFA in Photography from Pratt Institute and has been published in
numerous magazines and books.
His studio is centrally located in North Portland one block off of Broadway
near the Broadway Bridge.
His love for animals began at an early age, when he would rescue hurt birds
and other creatures he would find and nurse them back to health.
Throughout his life he has owned many dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rats, and snakes.
On his way to Portland he adopted Bob Barker, his hound mix dog that his mother had
found thrown out on the side of the road. Horace opened his studio and brings Bob Barker
with him everyday.
One day he was curious to see how Bob Barker would photograph using the same set up that he
uses for models in fashion magazines. After this he started inviting all of his friends dogs to his
studio for portrait sessions. This led to him being invited to doggy day cares and pet supply stores
in Portland to photograph dogs.
Hundreds of dogs later Horace was invited to be on KATU Channel 2's AM Northwest show to tell
Portland about his unique way of photographing animals.
Horace has a gentle kindness, lots of patience and a bag of all natural, wheat free treats that lures
the critters into poses that bring out their own personality.
Call today to book an appointment. Horace schedules sittings evenings, weekends as well as weekdays.
You can bring your pet to the studio, a park or Horace can come to your home.
Make sure your best friend is well exercised and hungry before coming in. Just like in obedience class,
a hungry, tired dog is at it's best for portraits.
